Future Thinker Award 2025
Our Future Thinker Award in collaboration with Manchester School of Architecture is back, celebrating the contribution of architecture in the area of Social Value, recognising that spaces and places have profound impact on individual lives and local communities.
We have really enjoyed seeing the students work and their presentations. We thought all students work was of an exceptionally high standard and in many respects all students should see themselves as winners. We are pleased to announce that Cameron Overden is the winner of this year’s award.
The 5plus jury said:
“Cameron’s project challenges our thinking and current approach to regeneration with its often overtly obsessive focus on urban cleansing, renewal and gentrification. His approach to the repair of a fractured and semi-obsolete part of Manchester, adjacent to the former Mayfield Depot explores alternative ideas surrounding the use and occupation of co-existent, temporal and liminal space within urban regeneration. His resulting project celebrates the ebb and flow of life; an adaptive architecture which responds to the everyday push and pull of urban use, need and existence over time. Meticulously conceived and designed as a kit of parts and exquisitely explored through drawn and collaged representation, the project oozes energy, life and vitality to reinvigorate this once abandoned part of the city.”
A big thank you to all the students who presented.
