We led the transformation of the iconic 101 Barbirolli Square in Manchester City Centre, where we were commissioned by owners AEW Europe LLP to develop a high-end new look for the building, one of a high profile pair built in the 1990’s that sit across from the Bridgewater Hall.

Internally, we stripped the building back and transformed the interior with a focus on high quality, simple finishes, creating a sophisticated environment befitting of the modern occupier requirements. Through our comprehensive redesign and fit-out, our client AEW secured a prestigious new tenant, Handelsbanken who now occupy three floors of the building. As part of our architectural and interiors work we were commissioned to design the building identity, wayfinding and signage. This included iconography, wayfinding and supergraphics in the basement and cycle store areas.

Driving revenue for our client and helping them achieve their commercial objectives for the project, we achieved an increase in net lettable areas throughout the building. The single largest increase of space can be found on the 6th floor where we achieved a 50% increase as well as providing new external amenity spaces in the form of roof terraces.

The building sets new standards for quality and rent in a refurbished office building in the region.
