Two Brindley is one of six key buildings which form the perimeter of Central Square, the main public space within Brindleyplace. The building also has a secondary frontage onto Oozells Square, a smaller public space which is home to the Grade II listed Ikon Gallery.
Two Brindley creates a sustainable structure which will help businesses offer their colleagues an enhanced occupier experience.
Industry suggests that up to 70% of embodied carbon for a typical office is accounted for in the Substructure, Superstructure and Façade. The building aims to embed sustainability in the way the building is designed, constructed and managed. At least 80% of the original structure is being retained which should cut the buildings embodied carbon by over half, compared to a new office building.
The building is targeting net-zero carbon in operational energy use against the UKGBC’s Paris Proof operational energy use targets with the building set to run on electricity only and aided by renewable energy sources. Other highly sustainable ratings are also targeted such as EPC A certification and NABERS energy-efficiency rating and finally WiredScore, SmartScore and WELL are also targeted.
